Ana02. Making Sense of Data Analytics: Work Smarter, not Necessarily Harder

Tuesday, May 9 | 11:30 - 12:30 | E. Gorilla 5

Download: Engage2017_MakingSenseOfDataAnalytics.pptx
Whether you are in HR, Sales, IT, Security, Marketing and Communications or Business Transformation, you know that one of today’s major business problems is that one of Employee Engagement, or, to be more precise, of employee disengagement. When only 13% of the global workforce is engaged at work (Cf. Gallup 2013 - https://hbr.org/2013/10/map-the-sad-state-of-global-workplace-engagement), one has got to question whether we have got a rather catastrophic business problem, or an unprecedented business opportunity to transform the way we collaborate and get work done.
What if we could use data analytics to make sense of what’s happening around us? To seek out the different business opportunities that may be laying around out there dormant in order to influence a shift of behaviours on how employees get work done more effectively by enabling a more open, public and transparent work environment where open knowledge sharing, cooperation, coopetition and collaboration would help transform our work culture(s).
What if each life of business embarks on a journey to identify new business opportunities, new markets, by making sense of data analytics to help us work smarter, not necessarily harder? Whether it’s data coming out of traditional tools like email and applications, or whether it’s data coming out of your own Enterprise Social Networking platform (i.e. IBM Connections), there is always an opportunity to seek > sense > share what we know, and use, to eventually transform the way we work.
What if you could make use of smart data analytics to influence the increase and further growth of the overall levels of employee engagement, talent retention, sales (by becoming a customer centric organisation), existing or new marketing goals as well as fine tuning more effectively your entire IT infrastructure. Would you also want to work smarter, not necessarily harder?
Come and join us then to find out how we could help you AND your business transform the way you work and interact with your customers using data analytics to inspire and influence smarter work!

We will discuss a number of examples from a variety of industries, with emphasis on real outcomes for business users from big data and dark data. We will discuss how combining different data sources for instance from your Domino applications, Smarter Workforce systems, business data like point of sales data with new and innovative data from weather, Twitter and government data can help you uncover hidden relationships in your data that will help you better understand your business and help you make better decisions.

The basis of innovation is being able to build upon the work of others: collaborating. Yet Traditional BI ‘collaboration’ is too often one-to-many—e.g. emailing a spreadsheet or PDF—it’s like running a webinar where the participants are on mute. The key to collaborative BI is speed. Speed to a decision. Having better, more informed, fact-based conversations with the right people. Learn how to put business into your social business, by infusing the networks with meaningful analytics, personalized to your problem. Learn how to leverage the entire IBM Collaboration stack to enrich self-service BI with context, to build consensus. Collaborative BI helps teams take action in real time, to work on the right things, at the right time.
